The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center is holding its seventh annual variety show Sunday. Local talent is on display at this friendly competition in Hanover, Pa.

Singers, instrumentalists, dancers, magicians and ventriloquists have showcased their talent at the yearly event. The audience picks the winners through its applause.

Eichelberger Performing Arts Center features bluegrass, classic country and jazz, as well as family theater events.

Civil rights musical

Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Winterthur. The story of the civil rights movement is chronicled in a two-woman documentary-musical, The Road We've Been Traveling.

Tina Betz and Joyce Hill Stoner perform and use songs, photographs, hymns, oral histories and poems to tell the history of civil rights.

The show begins with the founding of the NAACP in 1910 and continues through the end of legalized segregation and the civil rights legislation of the 1960s. The performance concludes with current issues and debates illustrated through music and dialogue.

"The Road We've Been Traveling" takes place at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Winterthur, Route 52 in Winterthur, Del. The performance is included in the general admission price of $15; $13 for students and seniors; $5 for ages 2-11. Call 800-448-3883 or visit www.winterthur.org.

Invention Convention

Hagley Museum and Library is having an Invention Convention of three full days of inventing, experimenting and entertaining education.

The Invention Workshop will be stocked with building supplies, while tinkerers can enjoy the Tinkering Table.

Science shows and demonstrations will be performed each day. Local members of the national chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma will present a show focused on chemistry. Robotics will also be explored.
