Dr. Alan Turner, 59, Elkton dentist, veteran

Dr. Alan Turner, a retired dentist who practiced in Elkton, died of complications from cancer Monday at St. Agnes HealthCare. The Pikesville resident was 59.

Born in Baltimore and raised on Dolfield Avenue, he was a 1963 graduate of City College. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and was a graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School. He then served in the Air Force.

He worked for about a decade in the Baltimore area. In 1978 established a practice in Elkton that he gave up last year because of failing health.

Dr. Turner enjoyed skiing, scuba diving and golf.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Sol Levinson & Bros., 8900 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville.

Survivors include a son, Leon Joshua Turner of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Meredith Kemp of Columbia; his mother, Ruth Turner of Pikesville; and two granddaughters. His marriage to the former Arlene Klappholz ended in divorce.
