Arrest: Donald West of the 4000 block of Oakford Ave. was arrested yesterday at Eastside District Court by members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a charge of attempted murder. West, 21, is charged with shooting Samuel Butler, 24, in the 1400 block of McCulloh St. on Dec. 31. He was due in court on an unrelated domestic violence charge.
Arrest: Victor Gwaltney, 28, of the first block of Valdivia Court in Randallstown, was arrested Tuesday on Kenshaw Avenue in Baltimore on a warrant charging him with attempted murder. He is charged in the shooting of Eric Jones, 24, on Dec. 19 in the 2400 block of Maisel Court.
Theft: A portable DVD player, 200 DVDs, a bicycle, camera, headphones and video games - all valued at $4,250 - were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 1900 block of Light St.
Burglary: A computer valued at $650 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 2500 block of Hollins Ferry Road by someone who entered through a rear door.
Robbery try/shooting: Bernard Brown, 48, was walking in the 2300 block of Sherwood Ave. about 10:30 a.m. yesterday after he was stopped by a man who asked for a cigarette. When Brown said he had none, the man asked for change. Brown reached into his pocket, and the man pulled out a gun and demanded his money. During a struggle for the gun, it discharged, wounding Brown in the right thigh. The assailant fled. Brown was treated at an area hospital and was in good condition.
Stolen vehicle: A gold 2000 Honda Civic with vanity tags HUBBLE was stolen Monday in the 100 block of W. University Parkway.
Theft: A cell phone valued at $70 was stolen Tuesday from a room at Millennium Health & Rehabilitation Center in the 4600 block of Pall Mall Road.
Carjacked vehicle recovered: Officer Bernard Tomaszewski was patrolling in the 1400 block of Drew St. about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he spotted a man driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck reported stolen in an armed carjacking on Shipview Way in O'Donnell Heights. The officer followed the vehicle until the driver abandoned it near the scene of the crime and escaped.
Bank robbery: A man robbed Mercantile Bank & Trust in the 10800 block of Falls Road of an undisclosed sum about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday after giving a teller a note saying he was armed.
Burglary: A semiautomatic rifle, 9 mm handgun and 27-inch TV were stolen Monday from an apartment in the first block of Witherwood Court.
