Assistance needed for homeless census

Baltimore Homeless Services Inc. and the Center for Poverty Solutions are seeking volunteers to help with a one-day census of homeless people Jan. 23.

The count - first conducted in 2003 - is taken once every two years in accordance with a requirement of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, which provides funding for shelters and low-income housing. Volunteers must attend a training session.
