Homicide victims named: Janice Ruffin, 41, was identified yesterday as the woman found fatally shot Monday morning in the back yard of her house in the 500 block of E. 43rd St. Fatally shot inside was Janerio Richardson, 47, of the 500 block of E. Preston St. Anyone with information about the killings was urged to call Detective John Riddick at 410-396-2100.
Shooting/arrest: Lennard Benjamin, 23, of Edgewood was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder in the shooting moments earlier of Nevada G. Williams, 31, in the 4100 block of Cleve St. Police heard gunshots and pursued an armed suspect a short distance. He surrendered after officers fired shots at him. The victim was reported in good condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center with a stomach wound.
Burglary: For at least the fourth time in less than two weeks, someone broke into Cristoforo's Castle, a bar and restaurant in the 3700 block of Potee St., early Monday and stole beer. Like the previous break-ins, entry was through the roof.
Shooting/arrest: A man shot a woman in the leg about 5 p.m. yesterday in the 1700 block of W. Lexington St. and fled into a nearby house. A suspect was arrested, and the victim treated at Union Memorial Hospital.
Shooting: Claude Suggs, 22, was standing inside a house in the 200 block of N. Ellwood Ave. about 1:20 a.m. yesterday when a gunman fired three shots into the dwelling, hitting him in the left arm and leg. He was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Robbery: George Hancock, 18, was walking in the 900 block of Druid Lake Park Drive about 1:30 a.m. yesterday when two bandits, one with a knife, robbed him of a jacket, a Negro leagues baseball cap and two shirts.
Burglary: Video games and their accessories -- all valued at more than $1,000 -- were stolen Monday from a house in the 2100 block of Allendale Road.
White Marsh Precinct
Burglary: Bathroom accessories valued at $2,938 were stolen from a house under construction in the 1600 block of Burnfield Road between late last month and Monday.
North Point Precinct
Robbery try: Brian Hall, 34, a driver for Jimmy's Cab, was on Maple Lane near William Wade Avenue about 2 p.m. Monday when a male threw a trash can that struck the car. When Hall stopped, the assailant hit him -- moments before a gunman approached and attempted to rob the cabbie. Hall drove off and called police.
Stolen vehicle: A 2001 Kawasaki KX250 motorcycle valued at $2,500 was stolen Monday from the back yard of a house in the 4100 block of Slater Ave.
