Freshman Chris Stinnett decked Jefferson High's Scott Chapman at 3:37 of their 112-pound title bout, helping No. 14 Glenelg finish second behind Damascus of Montgomery County in yesterday's 15-team holiday tournament at Damascus.
It was the 10th pin of the year for Stinnett (14-1), who also had a 19-2 technical-fall victory. Kyle Collins (152) was second, and Bichner brothers Dan (103) and Matt (160), were both third for Glenelg, which trailed five-time state champion Damascus, 273-163.
Liberty (fourth) crowned Crit Jennings (135) and Brandon Gervie (189), each at 15-0. Jennings scored a 19-4 technical fall of Williamsport's Jimmy Fiorita, and Gervie major-decisioned Damascus' John Cross (8-2).
Colin Leahy (152, 15-0), Eric Duvall (160, 11-0), Steve Anderson (215) and Tyler Barberi (275, 8-0) all won for Damascus.
A first-year wrestler, Anderson launched Sherwood's Javier Garza three times on takedowns in his 9-5 upset. Barberi's 84-second pin came over Bethesda-Chevy Chase's Andrew McNeill.
No. 3 McDonogh 66, Dunbar 51: Brittany Mallory had 28 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and four assists for the host Eagles (11-0) in the Holly 'N Hoops tournament. Cyneathin Little scored 15 for the Poets (3-4).
No. 10 Southside 50, No. 4 St. Frances 48: Angela Speight (16 points) hit a layup off a pass from Tiffany Lewis with five seconds remaining to lift the Jaguars (4-1) over the host Panthers in the consolation game of the Panther Invitational.
Sharee Ledbetter had 16 points for the Jaguars, and Mi-Khida Hankins led the Panthers (7-5) with 14 points.
No. 5 IND 65, Severn 60: Chandrea Jones had 32 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead the Indians (9-2) in the championship game of the Queen Anne's tournament. Jones was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Sarah Meisenberg scored 20 for the Admirals (10-1).
No. 9 Towson Catholic 63, Poly 53: Center Tracy Johns led the host Owls (8-2) with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Spalding 74, Pallotti 72: RaShauna Hobbs (18 points) had 10 points in overtime to lead the Cavaliers (6-3) over the Panthers (5-3) in the Holly 'N Hoops tournament.
Seton Keough 48, Catonsville 47: Maria Valderas hit a three-pointer with 3.2 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Gators (5-5) over the host Comets (5-4) in the championship game of the Comet Classic.
John Carroll 46, Century 29: Senior forward Eva Budzynski led the Patriots (6-4) with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game of the North Carroll Tournament.
