Northeastern District

Assault: A 50-year-old man backing his car out of a parking lot in the 3600 block of E. Northern Parkway about 5 p.m. Wednesday nearly struck a boy riding a skateboard. After a heated exchange, the 15-year-old pulled out a knife and cut the man on the hand. The boy was arrested and charged as a juvenile with aggravated assault.

Robbery: Two men, one with a gun, robbed the Rite Aid store in the 3400 block of Belair Road of more than $300 and several cartons of cigarettes Wednesday evening.

Western District

Victim identified: Police identified Tavon Tate, 18, of the 700 block of N. Longwood St. as the victim of a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of N. Monroe St. No arrest had been made. Anyone with information was urged to call Detective Roscoe Lewis at 410-396-2100.

Shooting: Dennis Burke, 39, was standing in line to order food outside a carryout in the 500 block of N. Fremont Ave. about 3 a.m. Wednesday when two men, one with a large-caliber handgun, attempted to rob him. Burke resisted and was shot twice in the back. He was in fair condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Central District

Theft: Steel casings and beams valued at $5,400 were stolen Wednesday from a construction site in the first block of W. Oliver St.

Theft from vehicle: A portable CD player valued at $60 was stolen Wednesday from a 2000 Dodge Caravan parked in the 400 block of W. Franklin St.

Southeastern District

Robbery try/arrest: A 37-year-old man was walking in the 1600 block of Fleet St. about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when another man attempted to rob him. When the victim cried out, Officer Anthony Cabezas heard the commotion, ran to the scene and arrested Richard Finney, 40, of no fixed address, on a charge of attempted robbery.

Burglary: Two cameras were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 100 block of S. Linwood Ave. by someone who entered through a door. They were valued at $1,000.

Southwestern District

Burglary: Several pieces of jewelry, a radio, CD player, video games and a Forest Park High School ring - all valued at nearly $4,000 - were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 5100 block of Oakland Road.

White Marsh Precinct

Stolen vehicle: A 1995 Dodge van with handicap tags 66997 was stolen Wednesday in the 5600 block of North Ave.

Essex Precinct

Vandalism: Someone using a sharp object slashed one tire on each of four vehicles parked in the 2000 block of Birch Road early Wednesday.

Towson Precinct

Theft: A blue 2004 Yamaha motorcycle valued at $7,500 was stolen Wednesday in the first block of Willow Wood Court.

Franklin Precinct
