Carroll runners compete in New York


The Eldersburg Rogue Runners, a running club affiliated with the Freedom Area Recreation Council, recently sponsored 30 athletes from five Carroll County high schools in the 2004 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships at Van Courtland Park in the Bronx, New York.

The Foot Locker Championships are 10 races with a boys and girls race in each of five divisions: seeded, seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen.

About 2,000 students from the Northeast participated.

Eric Libertore, a freshman at Liberty High, placed 13th in the freshman boys' race with a time of 18:01, which earned him "All Northeast Honors" at the meet.

Boys Senior Race: Carl Henn, Liberty High, 42nd; Brian Leiter, Francis Scott Key High, 59th; Frank Sisolak, Liberty, 84th; Bryan Mull, Liberty, 95th; Walter Bender, Liberty, 97th; Kevin Burdinski, Liberty, 141st; Eric Brown, Century High, 143rd; Chris Haines, Liberty, 149th; David Garcia, Liberty, 210th.

Girls Senior Race: Katie Griffith, Liberty, 106th; Rachel Griffith, Liberty, 107th; Laura DelGiorno, Liberty, 116th; Patricia Beavan, Liberty, 117th.

Boys Junior Race: Jimmy Ridder, Liberty, 74th; Rush Lester, Liberty, 167th.

Girls Junior Race: Caitlin Riebau, Liberty, 49th; Kaitlin Rodriguez, Liberty, 134th; Aubrey McNelis, Liberty, 137th.

Boys Sophomore Race: Mike Meadows, Liberty, 167th; Jon Dorsey, Liberty, 198th; Joey Ottomano, North Carroll High, 234th.

Girls Sophomore Race: Lisa Robbins, Liberty, 57th; Stacey Smith, Liberty, 81st; Caitlin Sansing, Westminster, 145th.

Boys Freshman Race: Eric Libertore, Liberty, 13th; Patrick Dougherty, Liberty, 34th; Danny Haines, Liberty, 123rd.

Girls Freshman Race: Lauren Ridder, Liberty, 105th; Rachel Van Parys, Liberty, 115th.
