NORRIS, GEORGE GARLAND

On Wednesday, December 15, 2004, surrounded by his family, GEORGEGARLAND NORRIS, 77, Federal Government engineer and WWII Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; his children, Wayne, Brian, Lynn and Donna and three grandsons. Mr. Norris was born January 1, 1027 in West Baltimore, MD to James Gray Norris and Inez Clark. During WWII, he served on destroyers for the U. S Navy. He attended Diving school in San Diego and was a "hard-hat" salvage diver for the Navy. In 1946, he married the former Anna E. Raspe, of Overlea, MD, in Baltimore. Mr. Norris attended John Hopkins University, taking night courses, majoring in mechanical engineering. He worked as a weapons technician for the U.S. Army at Edgewood Arsenal retiring after 36 years of government service. Mr. Norris was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Shrine, the VFW, American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 20, at 11 A.M. at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View, DE, where family and friends may call on Sunday, December 19, from 2 to 4 P.M. and from 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be private on Tuesday at the National Veterans Cemetery in Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Mr. Norris' name to the American Cancer Society, Mid Atlantic Division, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD 21801, or South Coastal Library, 41 Kent Avenue, Bethany Beach, DE 19930.
