Player of the Year

Stacey Krebs, Liberty

This talented hitter made tremendous progress in her senior season, leading Carroll County in kills (4.0 per game) and propelling Liberty to its second straight Class 2A state title. Able to contact the ball well above the net, the 6-foot Krebs broke a state-tournament record with nine kills in the final against Rising Sun, and ends her high school career with a school-record 650 kills.

She also recorded seven blocks each in the regional semifinals and final, and finished the season with a 96 percent serving average in helping the Lions finish 19-0.

Coach of the Year

Dave Trumbo, Liberty

Under the direction of the ninth-year coach, Liberty continued to build its resume as one of the best metro-area volleyball teams in history. For the second straight season, the Lions claimed the Class 2A state title, as well as an area No. 1 ranking.

Led by first-team All-County hitters Stacey Krebs and Meghan McConville and first-team setter Lauren Locklear, they finished 19-0, running their winning streak to 38 straight matches (dating to 2002) and improving Trumbo's career mark to 136-37. Most impressively, Liberty captured 57 of its 58 games, and never was seriously threatened in the playoffs.
