Player of the Year

Rachel Fry, South River

The Seahawks' senior midfielder made the most of her opportunity to take center stage this season, moving from an outside halfback spot to the middle, where she dominated play with poised ball skills and take-charge confidence.

In leading the Seahawks (13-2-4) to a Class 4A state runner-up finish, Fry scored 13 goals and added five assists to finish her three-year varsity career with 29 goals and 12 assists.

Coach of the YearClaudia Kirkup, Old Mill

The Patriots enjoyed a complete turnaround in Kirkup's second season, going from four wins in 2003 to a 12-5 mark this year that included the program's first county championship since 1995.

Kirkup said her group had a better understanding of what was expected the second time around and it translated into a highly-successful season with a strong foundation in place. Defensive pressure all over the field and more poise with the ball on offense were the starting points to the Patriots' success.
