Player of the Year

Abbi Horn, Severna Park

Consistently good and often sensational, the senior wing led the No. 1 Falcons to a 19-1 season that included their 10th straight county championship and a state runner-up finish in Class 3A.

With fine stick skills that improved over the course of her three-year varsity career, Horn was equally adept at scoring goals and setting up teammates, finishing the season with 18 goals and 24 assists. Horn, who is likely to play field hockey at Cornell University, finished her varsity career with 58 goals and 46 assists.

Coach of the Year

Laura Hoffner, South River

With a mind-over-matter approach that is constantly reinforced to her players, Hoffner guided the No. 7 Seahawks (17-3) to their second state title in five years, claiming the 4A crown with a 1-0 win over Whitman.

Hoffner, who is 90-30-7 in her eight seasons., was a standout three-sport athlete at Broadneck who went on to play field hockey and lacrosse at Loch Haven (Pa.) University in the mid-1990s.
