Lauren Troupe led five Greyhounds in double digits with 13 points as the visiting Loyola women's basketball team defeated Canisius, 63-58, last night.
The Greyhounds (1-3, 1-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led 55-39 with 4:29 remaining when the Golden Griffins (2-3, 0-1) rallied, outscoring Loyola 19-8 in the closing minutes but fell short.
Becky Zak led Canisius with 18 points.
Salisbury 78, Waynesburg 63: Jenna Peters led five players in double figures with 14 points as the Sea Gulls (4-2) downed the visiting Yellow Jackets (2-4) in the opening round of their Optimist Classic Tournament.
Salisbury faces Hood in today's final at 6 p.m.
Waynesburg shot a season-best 40.6 percent from the field.
Hood 72, Christopher Newport 68: Danielle Gallagher led the Blazers (2-3) with 24 points as they edged the Captains (1-3) in overtime in the first round of the Salisbury Optimist Classic.
Candace Bryant was 8-for-17 from the field and led Christopher Newport with 18 points.
Frostburg State 62, Pitt-Bradford 48: Tracey Little scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (3-2, 1-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference) over the host Lady Panthers (1-4, 0-1).
Mary Washington 69, St. Mary's 47: Sarah Flanagan scored 21 points to power the host Eagles (5-0, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) past the Seahawks (2-4, 0-2).
St. Mary's Megan Uglik and Kathryn Bozarth had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Alvernia 60, Salisbury 55: Chris Talley scored 20 points as the Crusaders (4-2) edged the host Sea Gulls (3-3) in the opening round of the Salisbury Optimist Classic.
Segun Odumeru scored 16 for Salisbury.
