Rosemary MacEvoy, 89, Red Cross social worker

Rosemary MacEvoy, a retired social worker, died of complications from a broken hip Nov. 26 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. She was 89.

Miss MacEvoy was born and raised in Bergenfield, N.J., and earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, N.Y. During World War II, she moved to Havre de Grace when she took a job with the United Service Organizations at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

She later moved to Towson and earned a master's degree in education from Loyola College and another master's from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Miss MacEvoy was a social worker for the American Red Cross and for about two decades at what is now Sheppard Pratt Health Systems. She retired in the 1980s.

She enjoyed travel and was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Rodgers Forge.

Plans for a memorial Mass were incomplete yesterday.

She had no immediate survivors.
