On September 25, 2204 ROSE C. CONNOLLY, after a brief illness. She was surrounded and comforted by her children at the time of her passing. She was a retired employee of the Pentagon and Prince George County Government. Raised in Des Moines, IO. Rose moved to Washington, DC in the early 1940's and was one of the first employees of the Pentagon. She married James E. Connolly and settled in the Annapolis area to raise a family. She was predeceased by Jim after a marriage of 45 years. Rose will affectionately remembered as "Granny" the matriarch of a close family, a kind and loving friend and as a creative artist with fabric. She was a avid quilter, a member of the Quilting Guild and active participant in classes and gatherings and at the South County Senior Center. She was twice pictured by the capital quilting at the center. She had won an award at an artist exhibit for a weaving project. She lead a active life with her friends, traveled to quilting events and a active parishioner at Holy Family Church. Rose was predeceased by her son Christopher. She is survived by sons, James E. and his wife Pat of Ocean City and Fort Washington, Mark and wife Debbie of Riva; daughters, Shelley Spencer and husband Randy of Grand Lake Stream, ME, Kathleen and David Hale and Patricia and Kenneth Gwinn all of Edgewater. She is also survived by special friend Emily Nolan and grandchildren, Erin, Samantha, Tatum, Nathan, Justin, Tara, Emily, Ian, Seth, Amanda, Clare Rose and Olivia; great grandchildren, James, William, Cody, Grace, Adeline Rose, Caitlin and Christopher. Granny was looking forward to the birth of two additional great grandchildren in December and April. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service and celebration of Rose's life and passing will be held October 14, 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions in Rose's name may be made to Holy Family Church of South County Senior Center.
