Salvation Army to take applications for holiday aid
The Salvation Army of Annapolis and Southern Anne Arundel County will take applications for holiday assistance for one week. Applications for food, toys and clothing will be accepted between 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Oct. 4 to 8 at the Salvation Army Community Center, 351 Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.
Eligible applicants must bring the following information:
Identification for the person who is applying.
Proof of age for all people listed on the applications.
Proof of income for all people in the household (e.g., pay stubs, Social Security letter, TCA award letter, etc.)
Proof of all expenses: rent receipt, copy of lease, utility bills and any other household bills.
Current proof of address.
The application will not be accepted without all of this information. People receiving assistance from another agency are not eligible for holiday assistance from the Salvation Army.
Nominations being sought for human relations award
The Anne Arundel County Human Relations Commission is currently accepting nominations for the Dallas G. Pace Sr. Human Relations Award.
Presented annually at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast, the award recognizes the achievements and contributions by a person who has helped the county realize human relations goals and objectives that help residents, and exemplified humanitarian principles and furthered the cause of human relations. The award was named for the late Dallas Pace, a former chairman of the County Human Relations Commission, teacher and community leader.

The Annapolis Maritime Museum is seeking volunteers to assist in the office on a regular basis. Volunteers will provide clerical support to the office manager and contract staff for the nonprofit organization. Hours are flexible. Duties include filing, copying, data entry, word processing, labeling and similar activities.
