Public works agency announces road projects for week

The Carroll County Department of Public Works has announced road projects for this week.


For information on the following projects, contact county Bureau of Engineering at 410-386- 2171:

Paving: Sunset Way, Sylvan Park, and Lincoln Manor subdivision streets.


Storm drain installation: Wolf Hill subdivision, Phillips Drive.

Shoulder work: Church Street at Alesia-Lineboro Road.

Closed for reconstruction (local traffic only): Obrecht Road from White Rock Road to Route 97.

Closed for bridge reconstruction: Stoney Lane and Freter Road between Old Liberty Road and Buckhorn Road.

Library to change location of central phone reference

The Carroll County Public Library will be moving its central telephone reference from the Westminster library branch to the headquarters at 115 Airport Drive.

During the move tomorrow, the library's central telephone reference number will temporarily be out of service.

Patrons are advised to contact their local branch until the conversion is completed.

Citizen Service Bureau to hold homebuying class

The Carroll County Citizen Service Bureau of Housing will sponsor a free "Homebuyer Education Class" from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at the bureau office, 10 Distillery Drive, first floor, Westminster.

A step-by-step homebuying guide will be provided that includes setting the goals of caring for a home after purchase, budgeting for a home purchase, shopping for a home and mortgage, key players who should be involved and closing.

A prepurchase counseling certificate, required by some mortgage programs, will be issued upon completion of the class. Advance registration is required.
