College schedules final installment of kids' summer series
The Child Development Center at Carroll Community College will hold its final Children's Summer Performing Arts Series show at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Scott Center.
Storyteller Baba Jamal Koram will bring alive the history, humor, people, music and lore of African and African-American cultures in the griot tradition.
Families and children ages 3 to 8 are welcome. Tickets are $5 each. The college is at 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.
Two jewelry artists join ArtWorks galleries
ArtWorks in Westminster has added two new jewelry artists in its galleries.
Jennifer Ament of Westminster creates handcrafted earrings from unique crystal, glass and lampwork beads. She also works with a British designer to create necklaces.
ArtWorks will hold an artist's showing Sept. 25 that will include Ament, who will discuss her jewelry and be available to create earrings to customers' specifications while they wait.
Adaire Pennington of Charleston, S.C., creates fancy glass jewelry designs, made from lampwork glass beads that she crafts herself.
Pennington has been designing jewelry for nearly 10 years and owns Henny Penny, a boutique in Charleston.
ArtWorks is at 105 E. Main St.
