Police investigate killing of man in Cherry Hill

Baltimore homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in Cherry Hill early yesterday.


The victim, Troy Lamont Goings of the 2700 block of Giles Road, was sitting in the doorway of an apartment building in the 2800 block of Round Road about 1:45 a.m. When an unknown assailant shot him multiple times, said Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

Goings was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Detective Richard Purtell at 410-396-2100.


Housing official named head of city-linked lender

An assistant city housing commissioner has been named president of the Baltimore Community Development Financing Corp., a city-related lending agency.

Ruth Louie, an assistant commissioner for community development services with the city Department of Housing and Community Development will begin her new job Aug. 2.

Louis will replace Gary M. Brooks, who left Dec. 30 to pursue a private law practice and has since been named in federal subpoenas related to an investigation of the City Council. The subpoenas asked several developers for information about their relationships with Brooks and other city officials.
