Virginia S. Freeman, a retired office manager and financial adviser, died of lung cancer Wednesday at the Blakehurst Life Care Community in Towson, where she lived for the past four years. The former Guilford resident was 88.
Born Helen Virginia Smith in Baltimore and raised in Forest Park, she graduated in 1935 from Western High School and attended Strayer Business College. She was a Glenn L. Martin Co. secretary in the 1950s and an office manager for a food brokerage for another 15 years. She then was a financial adviser to the Leidy Foundation.
A past president of the Gaywood Garden Club, she was a member of the Mount Washington Club and the Baltimore Country Club. She played bridge and tennis and did aerobic exercises. She also enjoyed travel.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. David's Episcopal Church, Roland Avenue and Oakdale Road.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Dr. Norman Freeman, an internist and former physician for the Baltimore Colts; a son, Michael Brent of Devon, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Brooks of Rockville; and three grandchildren. A former husband, Leo Mueller, died in 1974.
