The day isn't long enough to do it all at Kids Fest 5

It's a kid's wonderland.

Modeled after a kid's dream birthday party, Kids Fest 5, the Ultimate Family Fun Day, takes over the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium Saturday.

With games, interactive activities and entertainment all in one place, Kids Fest, open to all children and their parents, takes place inside the Exhibition Hall and the 4-H Building and outside on the fairgrounds.

Kids can enjoy pony rides, a 24-foot rock-climbing wall, a petting zoo, a wildlife safari, moon bounces, lots of interactive games, two stages of entertainment, craft-making, karaoke, sports clinics, autograph sessions with athletes, lots of food and more.

Live entertainment includes kids' performers Milkshake and dancers from Experimental Movement Concepts, on stage in Exhibition Hall. And the Wildlife Safari Show takes place throughout the afternoon on the stage in the 4-H Building. For a full schedule of the event's live entertainment, log on to

At the Hershey's Kissmobile, visitors can sample Hershey's chocolates and participate in arts and crafts activities, face painting and karaoke.

Wanting a new summer hairdo? Stop by the Crazy Hair area and dye your hair (temporarily) green, blue or red.

Venture outside for, like, a totally awesome demonstration by skaters from Charm City Skate Park. Or for some hands-on fun, young visitors can test their sports ability at Skills Alley. Challenges include a soccer speed kick, soccer obstacle course and lacrosse long-distance-shot accuracy test.

Also, kids can get into the zone - the Sports Zone, that is - for numerous sports clinics.

Young football fans can participate in a Ravens Mini Training Camp with some Ravens players at noon, then attend an autograph-signing at 1 p.m.

Former Orioles pitcher Dave Johnson will lead an instructional baseball clinic at 1 p.m. on the outdoor field, where the Oriole Bird will meet fans, as well.

The Baltimore Bayhawks will sponsor a lacrosse clinic at 9:30 p.m., and players will sign autographs afterward.

Back inside, moms and dads will appreciate the Education Destination where they can learn about saving for college, getting cost-effective insurance and home-security tips. Also at Education Destination, kids can learn about everyday science.

And at the Kaiser Permanente Health Quest area, all ages can color a huge mural and learn about eating healthfully.
