South County center plans fitness, music programs today

The South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, is offering the following events:


11 a.m. today: Kat Kenny, lead instructor of Anne Arundel Community College's Fitness Program, will present a program on "Growing Stronger." Handouts will be available at the presentation.

1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. today: Jack Foracker will be at the South County Senior Center for a "Big Band Show" with some of his friends. The Glenn Miller-style music will be suitable for dancing.


10 a.m. tomorrow: "Isabel Wrap-up: I am a Survivor" program will hold a one-day "Make A Tile" project for participants to express feelings over personal events and thoughts. The finished tile will be available to take home after it has been fired.

Aug. 11: A second bus has been added for the Crab Feast Cruise on the Choptank River aboard the Dorothy Megan, a reproduction of an authentic turn-of-the-century paddle-wheeler. On board, participants will be able to enjoy crabs, fried clams, fried chicken, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, beverage, beer and dessert. The total cost, including transportation from the senior center, is $61 per person.

O'Malley center offers two computer classes

The O'Malley Senior Center in Odenton will offer two computer classes through Anne Arundel Community College: Beginner Computer at 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Basic Word Processing at 2:30 p.m. Mondays.

Students may register at the center, 1275 Odenton Road, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Beginner, intermediate ceramics class scheduled


The O'Malley Senior Center is offering beginning and intermediate ceramics in the summer cycle of Anne Arundel Community College classes.

The class is for beginning students as well as intermediate-level students. Instructor Becky Baker will provide instruction on cleaning and prepping greenware, using paints, stains and glazes, and new techniques.

The class meets on Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Register at the center, 1275 Odenton Road, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
