LPGA Championship heading to Havre de Grace

One of the major championships in women's pro golf is moving to Havre de Grace.

The LPGA Championship will be played at the Bulle Rock golf course starting next year, the tournament's directors announced last night.

The event had been played at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del., for 18 years.

"Bulle Rock is a five-star facility designed by renowned golf course architect Pete Dye and listed as one of the best courses in the state of Maryland," tournament director Frank Quinn said in a statement.

"It will offer a new world-championship course for the LPGA players."

The move will be officially unveiled at a news conference today in Havre de Grace.

The 2005 tournament will be held June 9-12. This year's LPGA Championship was won by Annika Sorenstam.
