Cynthia L. Bonner, who taught in public and parochial elementary schools, died of neuroendocrine/carcinoid cancer July 5 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The Millersville resident was 45.
Born Cynthia Lynne Vaughan in Washington and raised in Landover Hills, she earned a degree in education at the University of Maryland, College Park in 1983.
Mrs. Bonner taught first grade at Kenilworth Elementary School in Bowie and later at St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Severna Park during her 18 year-career.
She enjoyed gardening and attending her children's sports activities in the Severna Park area. She also helped with Girl Scout activities.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Severna Park, where she was a member.
Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Joe Bonner, an accountant who is chief financial officer for Builders Design and Leasing in Gaithersburg; two sons, Joey Bonner, 11, and Paul Bonner, 6; a daughter, Kelsey, 10; her mother, Joanne Vaughan of Bowie; her grandmother, Helen Vaughan of Glen Burnie; and two brothers, Alan M. Vaughan Jr. of West River and Daniel M. Vaughan of Bowie.
