WHEATLEY, LEROY T.

LEROY TENNYSON WHEATLEY, Age 80, departed his life on Saturday, June 26, 2004 in Millersville, MD. Born August 7, 1923, in Smithfield, MD, son of the late Mabel Hill and John Howard Wheatley. Mr. Wheatley worked several jobs after high school in various parts of state. He later was employed by, and a member of the International Longshoreman Association (AFL-CIO), Steamship Trade Association of Baltimore, Inc. After working many years on the docks in Baltimore, he pursued his career to advance to the position of Vice President of Local Union 1429 for nearly a quarter of a century. His hobbies were rabbit hunting, raising and training dogs, especially rabbit dogs, traveling, dressing smartly and helping people particularly senior infirmatory men with whom he worked. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Geoffrey and William Hobert Wheatley preceded him in death. In celebrating his life, Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, wife of fifty years, Thelma Eunice Wheatley; five children, William Sylvester Wheatley and wife Geneva (Columbus, Ohio), Lorrie Annette Herbert and husband Raymond (Crownsville, MD), Carroll Angus and wife Regina, Gordon Tennyson and wife Portia (all of Glen Burnie, MD) and Anthony Herbert Wheatley and wife Rev. Linda (Cambridge, MD); ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three sisters, Phyllis Wheatley Maker, Delores Wheatley Cager and Juanita Wheatley; two brothers-in-law, Norman Outten and John Cager; two sisters-in-law, Faustina Outten and Gladys Wheatley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2004, 11 A.M. at Refuge Temple Church of God (Cambridge, MD). Interment will follow in Cordtown Cemetery (Cordtown, MD). Viewing one hour prior to the services and Thursday 4 to 8 P.M. at the Henry Funeral Home P.A. (Cambridge, MD)
