Inside out

New York artist Laura Ferguson puts a twist on self-portraits with her new exhibit, Laura Ferguson: The Visible Skeleton Series, at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington. The exhibit, which opens Saturday with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., is based on her own skeleton. Ferguson, who has scoliosis, uses medical images of her spine to develop multilayered paintings that provide viewers with an artistic perspective of spinal deformity.
