William Calvin Freeman Jr., a retired college security officer who was associate minister at a West Baltimore church, died of pancreatic cancer June 2 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. He was 56.
Mr. Freeman was born in Philadelphia and raised in West Baltimore. He was a 1966 graduate of Forest Park High School and attended what is now Baltimore City Community College.
He was a security officer at Coppin State College from 1975 until retiring in 2002.
The West Baltimore resident, who enjoyed playing ragtime piano and gospel music, was associate minister of Union Temple Baptist Church, 1100 W. North Ave., where services will be held at 10 a.m. today.
Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Mertha M. Wiley; two daughters, Donna Anderson of Jessup and Charnette Freeman of Baltimore; a brother, Stanley Freeman of Philadelphia; a sister, Carolyn Benefield of Crownsville; and two grandchildren.
