Coldwell Banker office to hold yard sale Saturday

The Westminster sales office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1130 Baltimore Blvd.

Household items, baked goods, plants, knickknacks, books and miscellaneous items will be for sale.

Proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity. The rain date is June 13.

The office also seeks donations of household items (no clothing) for the yard sale. Donations will be taken from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow through Friday. All donations are tax-deductible.

Businesses invited to join in electricity co-op

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Electricity Cooperative is partnering with the Taneytown and Mount Airy chambers of commerce to help businesses that receive their energy from Allegheny Power.

Information sessions will be held for businesses that are interested in joining the co-op to get the best price on energy when deregulation occurs.

Businesses must be a member of one of the three chambers to join the co-op. Informational meetings for businesses that receive energy from Allegheny Power will be held as follows:

June 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Carroll County Public Library headquarters, 115 Airport Drive, Westminster.

June 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Taneytown Senior Center, 220 Roberts Mill Road.

June 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Mount Airy Senior Center, 705 Ridge Ave.

Merritt Athletic Club plans Father's Day dance

Merritt Athletic Club will hold its third annual Father's Day Dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 19.

Each participant will receive a complimentary corsage or boutonniere. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures of couples. A disc jockey will provide music, and refreshments will be served.

The dance is open to the public. Tickets, $7 per person for members and $11 per person for nonmembers, are required.

Job resource center offers monthly programs

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center offers a variety of workshops and programs to help people who may be seeking a job or looking for a new career.

Monthly programs include: career surveys, job fairs, goals, layoffs, applying for jobs, computer and Internet basics, resumes, interviewing, how to negotiate, starting your own business, time and money management, networking and more.

Carroll Child Care Centers' food service receives honor

The Carroll Child Care Centers Inc. has been awarded a certificate of excellence for the administration of its food program by the Maryland State Department of Education's School and Community Nutrition Programs.

As part of the Carroll Child Care Centers' program, each child is fed two balanced meals a day -- breakfast and a hot lunch, plus two snacks.
