Jorgen Eliason

Bel Air

At times, the savvy, 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-hander was a one-man show for the Bobcats, who rode the arm and bat of their senior ace to a surprising 13-5 season and the inaugural Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championship.

For the season, Eliason, who is bound for Delaware Tech Junior College, was 6-2 with a 1.70 ERA, chalking up 57 strikeouts (eight per game), while allowing just 12 earned runs, 32 hits, 12 walks and one home run. Opponents hit .164 against him.

Mixing his pitches well and using pinpoint control and unwavering composure, Eliason was at his best in big games, beating Fallston once and C. Milton Wright twice to lead his team to the UCBAC championship game, where he registered a complete-game win over Harford Tech.

Eliason hit .288 with four home runs and 15 RBIs.

Bryan Linz

C.M. Wright

The fifth-year coach guided the Mustangs to a 17-6 record, second place in the UCBAC Chesapeake Division, a Class 3A North regional championship and a berth in the state final, where C. Milton Wright fell to Centennial.

With a deep and talented group of seniors, whom Linz entrusted to produce on the field and provide leadership both on and off of it, the Mustangs won their first six games. Linz, however, made his biggest impact later in the season.

As it has in previous seasons, C. Milton Wright hit a late season swoon, dropping four of eight games at one point, but Linz kept his team focused and confident and juggled the lineup to increase production.

The result was four straight wins and the Mustangs' second state title game appearance in the past 15 seasons.
