On Friday, May 21, 2004, JOSEPHFRANCIS GOLDBERG, 65, of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Potomac, MD; beloved father of Kara Jane (Scott) Rabin, of Rockville, MD, Andrew (Nicole) Goldberg, of Vallejo, CA, Ross (Donna) Goldberg, of Destin, FL and Brent (Felicia) Goldberg, of Riverside, CA; loving brother of Stephen (Diana) Goldberg, of Washington, DC and Nancy (Robert) Eskow, of Livingston, NJ; loving companion of Marge Wolpert. Also survived by grandchildren, Noah, Seth and Jared Rabin; Quinn, Megan, Gage and Chase Goldberg; son of the late Nathaniel and Rae Goldberg, of Washington, DC. Mr. Goldberg was a pioneer in the local music industry. In 1957, at 19 years of age, he founded Variety Records, which became one of the largest record retailers in the Washington metropolitan areas, operating at 8 locations. After selling the businesses, Mr. Goldberg operated several other retail businesses, until his retirement. In his passing, he had the blessing of providing vital organs to save the lives of 3 individuals. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 12:15 P.M., at B'nai Israel Congregation, 6301 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852. Interment B'nai Israel Congregation Cemetery, Oxon Hill, MD. Family will be receiving friends following interment and resuming with Shiva, Wednesday through Thursday at the residence of Scott and Kara Jane Rabin. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH, or the charity of your choice.
