Salisbury men march to 14-0, CAC title game

Corey O'Neil scored three goals to lead host Salisbury to an 11-5 win over Goucher yesterday in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.

The Sea Gulls (14-0) will try to claim their 10th straight conference title when they host St. Mary's on Saturday in the CAC title game.

The Sea Gulls had a 4-1 halftime lead, but the Gophers (7-8) cut the deficit to one with back-to-back goals in the opening 1:49 of the third quarter.

The Sea Gulls got three quick scores, but Goucher answered again with goals by Dan Flamholz and James Clement to pull to 7-5. Salisbury, though, closed it out with a 4-0 run.

St. Mary's 9, Mary Washington 7: Dave Mueller had three goals and three assists to lift the Seahawks (11-5) over the host Eagles (10-4) in the other CAC tournament semifinal.

Women

Salisbury 9, Mary Washington 8: Liz Funk and Sarah Stafkosky each scored twice as the host Sea Gulls (11-2) edged the Eagles (9-7) in a Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinal.

St. Mary's 18, Goucher 6: Sarah Sloane scored four goals, including her career 100th, as the Seahawks (11-3) beat the visiting Gophers (11-5) in the other CAC tournament semifinal.

College of New Jersey 20, Washington College 7: Bridget Bigley scored eight goals as the host Lions (10-0) overpowered the Shorewomen (8-5).
