Anne Arundel County fire officials are continuing to investigate a fatal fire in Brooklyn Park that claimed the lives of two young children and their great-grandparents Tuesday morning.
The fire, which officials believe started on the porch, swept through the single-story house at 123 Cherry Lane in Morris Hill, killing longtime residents Wilmond Tucker, 84, and Hannah Tucker, 75, his wife.
Two of the Tuckers' great-grandchildren, Brock Jr., 8, and Braxton, 6, who were visiting from North Carolina on their spring break, also died.
Fire officials still were trying to determine yesterday where in North Carolina the family was from and how long the children had been expected to visit their great-grandparents.
Arundel fire Capt. Lee Cornwell said the children's father, Brock Sr., was visiting the Eastern Shore at the time of the fire. Cornwell said the children's mother, whose name he did not know, was in North Carolina at the time of the fire.
The blaze resulted in about $65,000 in damage to the home, fire officials said. The cause had not been determined, but it was believed to have been accidental.
