A weekly briefing on the economic calendar:


The Institute for Supply Management releases its national survey of purchasing managers, which covers such indicators as new orders, production, employment, inventories, delivery times, prices, export orders and import orders.

January personal income and spending figures are released. In December, personal income rose 0.2 percent and spending 0.4 percent.

Earnings reports: Macrovision


Auto and truck sales out today measure the monthly sales of all domestically produced vehicles.

Earnings reports: Cablevision, PetSmart, Six Flags, Biogen Idec


Earnings reports: Genesco, Toys 'R' Us, Saks


Thursday's nonfarm productivity and costs report measures the costs in time and money associated with producing a unit of output.

Initial unemployment claims are released for the week that ended Feb. 28.

Earnings reports: Staples, Martha Stewart, Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Dillards, TiVo


The January employment report measures nonfarm payrolls, average workweek and average hourly earnings figures. It is among the most important reports of the month.
