Loyola tops Towson, 14-9

Towson scored first but Loyola responded with five straight goals to take the lead and never looked back on the way to a 14-9 victory over the Tigers in the 46th meeting between the two teams.

It was the season opener for both squads and the 20th straight season-opening win for the Greyhounds. Towson leads the series 24-22.

Loyola made a goalie change one minute into the second half, inserting Michael Fretwell into the nets in relief of T.C. Behm. Behm allowed all nine Towson goals. Fretwell shutout the Tigers the rest of the way, making nine saves in the process.

Junior attackmen Matt Monfett and Chris Einhorn paced the Greyhounds with three goals each. Senior attackman Stephen Brundage pitched in two goals and three assists. Freshman Jonathan Engelke led Towson with three goals.
