2 traffic stops end in arrests of 19 illegal immigrants

Two separate traffic stops along interstates in Baltimore yesterday by Maryland Transportation Authority Police resulted in the arrests of 19 illegal immigrants believed to be from Mexico, authorities said.

About 7:45 a.m., Officer Leroy Kellam Sr. stopped a Ford van for speeding on northbound Interstate 895 and found that 10 of the 11 occupants, including the driver, were illegal immigrants, said Cpl. Greg Prioleau, police spokesman.

Two hours later, nine illegal immigrants were found in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban bound from Texas to New York that was stopped for speeding on Interstate 95 by Officer Gregory Day. The driver of the Suburban, Nazrio Rosales Guerrero, 45, of Houston, was charged with speeding and driving on a suspended Texas license, Prioleau said.
