HCC schedules college fair for disabled students
Howard Community College will hold a college fair for students with disabilities from noon to 3 p.m. March 6 in the college's Burrill Galleria, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway.
Project Access, a program designed to help high school students with disabilities make a successful transition into post-secondary education, is sponsoring the fair.
More than 30 post-secondary schools, including two- and four-year colleges and career schools, will be represented. Admissions, disability support service, financial aid and other specialists will be on hand.

School board to adopt 2005 budget requests today
The Howard County Board of Education will meet at 9 a.m. today to discuss and adopt its budget requests for fiscal year 2005 operating and capital budgets and the fiscal years 2006--2010 capital improvement program. The request will be sent to the county executive and eventually to the County Council, which will make a final determination in May.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be in the boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City.
The board will meet in the board room in closed session at 2:30 p.m. today.
Its regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the boardroom.
The afternoon session, and an evening session at 7:30 p.m., will begin with a public forum, during which members of the public can speak on any topic for which there is no formal hearing process.
Sign-up in advance is preferred.
The board will meet with the Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the board room. The meeting is open to the public.

School candidates forum to air on cable television
The Board of Education candidates forum, held Feb. 11 at Department of Education headquarters, was taped and is being broadcast this month on Cable Channel 72.
The tape of the forum will be broadcast at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday.
The forum was co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Howard County and the county's PTA Council.
Gifted and Talented testing May 8 for middle-schoolers
Testing for nonpublic school pupils, grades five through seven, who plan to enter Howard County middle schools in August and seek admission to the school system's Gifted and Talented Program, will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. May 8 at Faulkner Ridge Center, 10598 Marble Faun Court, Columbia.
The registration deadline is April 30.

Registration being taken for SAT-PSAT prep courses
Registration is being accepted for SAT-PSAT preparation courses to be held at six Howard County high schools.
Courses will be held at Centennial High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 3, 10, 17 and 24; at Chapelgate Academy from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13 and 20 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 7 and 14; at Howard High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 30 and April 13, 20 and 27; at Hammond High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 31, and April 14, 21 and 28; and at Long Reach High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 1, 15, 22 and 29.
Tuition is $100, plus a $50 fee for materials.
