Howard Crime Report


The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Stevens Forest Road: 5700 block, Oakland Mills. A man reported that he was at the end of the Grand Point footpath about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15 when three teen-age boys hit him in the head with a stick and robbed him of his wallet.

Saddlebag Row: 9500 block, Oakland Mills. Someone smashed a rear sliding-glass door and entered a home in the morning or early afternoon of Feb. 18, but it was unknown if anything was taken. Police said there was also an unsuccessful attempt to set fire to the rear sliding door. Police arrested two juveniles.

West Columbia

Round Tower Place: 5000 block, Harper's Choice. Residents who arrived home from school about 3 p.m. Feb. 18 found their house had been broken into, though it was unknown if anything had been stolen.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Landing Road: 6500 block, Elkridge. A boy and his friend were leaving Rockburn Branch Park when they were approached by three men wearing ski masks and displaying handguns about 10 a.m. Feb. 16. The men took a cellular phone and a wallet containing cash and drove away in an older-model, gray Chevrolet Cavalier.

Mount Ida Drive: 3600 block, Ellicott City. A man was walking with a friend through the Hilltop Complex at 4:30 p.m. Feb 20 when they were approached by three men who assaulted the man and stole his cellular phone and lighter. The assailants fled on foot.

N. Laurel/Savage/Jessup

Assateague Drive: 7400 block, Jessup. A man 18 to 20 years old entered Arby's restaurant, displayed a large butcher knife and demanded money from employees about 9 p.m. Feb. 13. He took an undetermined amount of money from two cash registers and fled on foot toward the Red Roof Inn.

Gorman Road: 9300 block, North Laurel. Someone forced open a mobile-home window, entered and stole coins and jewelry between 5 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19.

Vollmerhausen Road: 9200 block, Jessup. A man told police he was robbed at gunpoint by two men early Saturday. The men fled in a black pickup truck.
