Mount women rout Robert Morris


Myriam Baccouche tied a career high with eight three-pointers in the final home game of her career yesterday, leading Mount St. Mary's to a 90-57 victory over Robert Morris in Emmitsburg.

Baccouche finished with 26 points and the Mountaineers evened their Northeast Conference record at 8-8 (8-16 overall).

Mount St. Mary's took control in the first half, using a 20-5 run to break a 12-12 tie. Baccouche knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to cap the run. The second one gave the Mountaineers a 32-17 advantage with 5:22 left in the first half.

Baccouche finished 9-for-18 from the floor and also broke her single-season record for three-pointers. Adrienne Harris added 14 points and five assists and Beth Foster scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Mount St. Mary's. Missy Spangler scored 11 points for Robert Morris (2-23, 1-15).

* Coppin State 58, South Carolina State 42: The visiting Eagles (15-10, 11-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) outscored the Lady Bulldogs 34-18 in the second half. Sherrie Tucker scored 14 points, Leisel Harry had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Antoinette Reese scored 12 and grabbed eight rebounds for the Eagles.

Evena Morency led South Carolina State (9-14, 6-9) with 12 points. Latasha Cook added 10 points and 12 rebounds, but the Lady Bulldogs hit just 26 percent from the floor, including 20.7 percent in the second half. The Eagles hit 48 percent after halftime.

* Morgan State 73, North Carolina A&T; 63: Sharonda Watson led the visiting Lady Bears (3-22, 3-13 MEAC) with 21 points and Whitney Johnson added 16. The Aggies dropped to 6-19, 3-12.


* North Carolina A&T; 91, Morgan State 80: The host Aggies (3-21, 3-12 MEAC) shot 60.8 percent from the floor. Rechodd Carter and Steven Koger scored 17 points apiece for the Aggies. Morgan State fell to 9-14, 8-8.
