Allen Curtis Smith, 73, of Jacksonville Beach, died February 22, 2004 at Baptist Medical Center-Beaches following a long illness. He was born in Maryland and moved to the Beaches several years ago. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Allen was a member of the Baltimore Traffic Club, Cancer Support Group, a Hospice Home Visitor, avid bridge player and reader. He was also an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Jacksonville Beach. Family members include his wife, Thelma Smith of the home; sons, Curtis (Rosa) Smith of Atlantic Beach and Kevin Smith of Jacksonville Beach; brother, Archie Smith; sisters, Reno Golding and Esther Ross; grandchildren, Rebecca Susan Smith, Avel Villages, V.V. Villages and J.J. Villages and great grandchildren, Ayana and Sanaya Heden. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25th with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26th in the St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Reverend William Kelly as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or to the American Cancer Society.
