Allison Hardy shot 20-for-34 and finished with 50 points to lead the Bowie State women to an 84-60 victory over St. Augustine's in the opening round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament yesterday at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.
St. Augustine's (15-13) had no answer for Hardy, who also made six of eight three-point attempts, pulled down 14 rebounds and added six steals for the Bulldogs (14-14).
Mount St. Mary's 90, Robert Morris 57: Myriam Baccouche scored 26 points and tied a career high with eight three-pointers in the final home game of her career to lead the host Mountaineers (8-16, 8-8 Northeast Conference).
South Carolina State 68, Coppin State 65: Shawn Wiggins hit a three-pointer in the final minute to help move the host Bulldogs (14-10, 11-4 MEAC) within a half game of the Eagles for the conference lead. Jimmy Boykin paced Coppin State (14-13, 12-4) with 20 points.
North Carolina A&T; 91, Morgan State 80: The host Aggies (3-21, 3-12 MEAC) shot 60.8 percent from the floor. Rechodd Carter and Steven Koger scored 17 points apiece for the Aggies. Morgan State fell to 9-14, 8-8.
Hampton 79, UMES 71: Jeff Granger scored 23 points for the Pirates (11-15, 9-6 MEAC). Tim Parham and Aaron Wellington led the Hawks (7-18, 6-10) with 18 apiece.
