Police seek suspect in Woodlawn woman's murder

Baltimore County police today were searching for the 42-year-old live-in boyfriend of a Woodlawn woman whose body was discovered Friday in her apartment.

Darren Lee Johnson, who authorities said is believed to frequent the west side of Baltimore, has been charged in a warrant with first-degree murder. He is wanted in the death of Tina Marie Washington, 46, of the 1000 block of Charing Martin Court, according to police.

On Friday, Baltimore County police found Washington's body in her apartment after family members reported to authorities that they had not heard from her for several days. She had suffered several stab wounds to her upper body, police said.

According to authorities, Johnson was seen in Washington's 1996 Honda Civic before the discovery of her body, but detectives have been unable to locate him since. The car was found today in Baltimore, said Officer Shawn Vinson, a county police spokesman.

Police have not yet been able to establish a motive, Vinson said. Authorities describe Johnson as black, 6 feet tall, weighing 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Johnson is urged to call Baltimore County police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587. Callers can remain anonymous, and those calling Metro Crime Stoppers might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
