Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five



On Tuesday, February 3, 3004, in his home, RICHARD ELMER "DICK" NORRIS, 70, of Parsonsburg. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Samuel Elmer Norris, Jr. and Ruth Evelyn Hanson. After 40 years of service he retired from the National Security Agency in Fort Meade. During his employment he traveled all over the world on many international assignments. He was a member of the National Cryptologic Museum Foundation, the American Legion in Halethorpe, MD Post 109, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1456, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Phoenix Society, Arbutus United Methodist Church, and was a Master Gardener. An alumnus of Washington College he was a member of the Washington College Sho Men Club. He is survived by his daughter Joanie L. Baysinger and her husband Donald P. Baysinger of Salisbury, two grandsons, Matthew A. Baysinger and Cory R. Baysinger, a sister Virginia Merkle of Baltimore, and a niece and three nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 P.M. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. The Rev. George Patterson will officiate. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Dick Norris to Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High Street, Salisbury, Md 21801.
