Anne Arundel County police have issued an arrest warrant for the boyfriend of a woman found dead in their Millersville apartment Monday morning.
The warrant charges Robert Charles Antonelli, 38, with the first-degree murder of Nancy Susan Kreamer, 44. Police said yesterday that the state medical examiner's office concluded that the woman had been strangled.
Antonelli, who had not officially been named a suspect until yesterday morning, was apprehended Tuesday by Northampton County, N.C., sheriff's deputies after he called 911 to turn himself in, Anne Arundel police said.
Sheriff's deputies found him sitting in Kreamer's 2001 Oldsmobile Alero at a welcome center near the Virginia state line, police said.
Sheriff's deputies took Antonelli to Halifax Regional Medical Center because he had apparently taken medication, said Capt. Daryl Harmon of Northampton County. Emergency room workers there said he was admitted and discharged Tuesday.
He was being held yesterday at the Northampton County Detention Center. It is unclear when he will be extradited to Anne Arundel County.
Antonelli pleaded guilty last month to second-degree assault for a September incident in which he admitted to choking Kreamer to the point that she blacked out, according to court records. He was sentenced to three years of supervised probation and ordered to participate in alcohol and domestic violence programs.
Kreamer allowed Antonelli to continue living with her at her apartment in the 500 block of Jeffrey Road in Millersville. Police were called there about 8:30 a.m. Monday by her sister, who also lived in the apartment. Kreamer was pronounced dead at the scene.
