Meet the Band / Karmella's Game

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Band Name: Karmella's Game

Hometown: Baltimore

Current members: KTO (aka Katherine Ostrosky), lead vocals and keyboards; Mandy Koch, bass and vocals; Steve Snyder, guitar and vocals; Joe Ostrosky, drums and vocals

Founded in: 2002

Style: quirky synth-rock

Influenced by: Reggie and the Full Effect, the Cars

Notable: The local rock outfit, which recently released its debut five-song EP, What He Doesn't Know Won't Hurt Him, on Baltimore's Speedbump Recordings, just returned from a 25-day / 24-date tour of the East Coast.

Quotable: KTO recalls a recent rock 'n' roll moment:

"We were driving at night from Connecticut [to Vermont when] at like 4:30 or 5 in the morning we hit black ice and [the van] flipped over. I was sleeping on the amps at the time, so when the van flipped over, they all flipped over on me. But Joe and Steve got them off of me and we were all fine," she said. "We're really excited about the fact that when we wrecked our van ... on the third day of the tour, that we didn't miss a show. We're really proud of that."
