Cook leads Bowie State past Virginia Union, 91-83

Letheal Cook had 28 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks and Allen Van Norden hit six three-pointers and added 21 points last night, helping Bowie State to a 91-83 victory over Virginia Union in Richmond.

Bowie State (17-3, 10-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) trailed 49-37 at halftime, but shot 57 percent in the second half, outscoring the hosts 54-34. Virginia Union (14-4, 9-3) failed in its bid to give coach Dave Robbins his 599th career victory.


Wesley 80, Hood 75: Josh Kline's three-pointer with 1:28 left in regulation tied the score and host Wesley prevailed over Hood in overtime.

Nick Minor scored 23 points to lead the Wolverines (4-13). Robert Gordy added 15 and Jeremy Berkowitz scored 14.


Hood (8-9) committed 17 turnovers. Santo Provenzano scored 26 for the Blazers, who rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit but surrendered 20 points in the extra session.


Ursinus 68, Washington College 65: Yianna Patronas broke the Washington College record for career assists, but the host Bears (6-11, 4-8 Centennial Conference) held off the Shorewomen (4-14, 2-11).

Johns Hopkins 70, Franklin & Marshall 62: Ashanna Randall scored 20 points to lead the visiting Blue Jays (15-2, 10-1 Centennial Conference).

Amy Abernathy made 10 of 12 shots and finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Diplomats (8-8, 8-4).

McDaniel 77, Gettysburg 40: The host Green Terror (16-2, 12-0) set a school record with its 11th straight win and remained undefeated in the Centennial Conference by beating the Bullets (9-11, 6-7).

Chestnut Hill 53, College of Notre Dame 38: Jennifer Banks scored 18 for the host Griffins (9-8, 5-1 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference) in a victory over the Gators (9-7, 2-4).
