On Sunday evening, February 1, 2004, ANITA ENGEL KOCH, 73, of Springfield, Ohio, died in her home after a heroic 9M-l year battle with cancer. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 7, 1930 the daughter of William and Anna (Stroeh) Engel. She graduated from Baltimore City Schools, attended Towson Teacher's College for three years and later became a nursery school teacher. She married Harry Koch on August 4, 1951 and had 53 years of very happy marriage. They lived in England and Mexico for six wonderful years. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Anita was a volunteer at the Heritage Center, her beloved Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Young Women's Mission. She is survived by Harry and their four children: Dr. Bruce Koch and Cathy Simpson-Koch of Troy, Ohio, David and Mary Vickers-Koch of Charlotte, North Carolina, Robyn Koch-Schumaker and her husband Stephen Schumaker of Springfield, and William and Kim Koch of Grand Rapids, Ohio. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Dave and Lisa Koch, Julia Vickers-Koch, Alexander, Ryan, and Laura Schumaker, and William Jr., Jessye, Maggie, and Nicole Koch. Her infant granddaughter, Anna Koch, died when she was two days old. The family would like to thank Drs. Daljeet Singh and Gerald Dudney and the Community Hospital Hospice for their loving care. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, 830 N. LIMESTONE ST., SPRINGFIELD, OHIO. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastors Daniel M. Powell and Beverly Self officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 1801 St. Paris Pike., Springfield, Ohio, 45505 or the Rocking Horse Center, 651 S.
