Pasadena man, 61, dies after being hit by minivan

A Pasadena man was killed Thursday evening when a minivan was struck by another car and then hit him as he walked across the parking lot of a Pasadena gas station, Anne Arundel County police said.

Roger Lee Gordon Sr., 61, was pronounced dead of head injuries at North Arundel Hospital. The driver of the minivan, William Glenn Greene, 59, of Pasadena drove away from the scene of the accident but was stopped by police shortly afterward, then released. The Anne Arundel County state's attorney is investigating.

Police said Greene was driving west on Mountain Road about 7 p.m. when he attempted to turn into the gas station. His minivan was struck by an eastbound Mitsubishi Lancer, sending Greene's vehicle into Gordon, police said. No action was taken against the driver of the Lancer, police said.

Schools cancel day off scheduled for Thursday

Students at Anne Arundel County public schools had the day off yesterday because of the snow, but they are scheduled to attend classes Thursday, a day that schools originally were scheduled to be closed.

The change was made, officials said, because high school students must have three consecutive days of school this week to complete their final exams.

Schools will be closed to students for two days after the tests for grading. Elementary and middle schools will follow the same schedule. If schools are closed today, classes will be scheduled for Friday.
