Hercules' DJ Console a must-have for fun mixing digital music
It was only a matter of time before someone would figure out that the E-generation would want to mix MP3s, WMAs and CD music in the same way that disc jockeys of earlier eras would spin albums.
Hercules has created the DJ Console ($250) just for such party fun.
It works with a PC or laptop to play, sample, loop and scratch digital music.
You can also hear a DVD or game with its 24 bit, 5.1 surround sound and be wowed by what your ears will hear. The audio quality is fantastic.
Sure, most people will see this as a piece of hardware they don't need, but if you're a digital music fan who likes to put together party mixes for friends, this is a must-have gadget.
This was not only fun to learn, but it's easy to use. The device has two jog wheels for scratching and spinning and more than two dozen buttons for playing with the song positions, adding effects or changing the music's speed. And it has a cross-fader for seamless mixing, something that I remember one of my college DJs being unable to accomplish with his platters.
You simply plug it into a Universal Serial Bus port to your computer and go to work.
A shoulder strap makes it easy to carry, too.
