GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland freshmen basketball players Mike Jones and Shay Doron were selected Co-Rookie of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
In Maryland' s 87-38 win over UMES, Jones scored a career-high and game-high 25 points on a 6-of-11 shooting, including a 2-for-3 performance from beyond the arc and an 11-for-12 night at the free throw line.
Doron netted 23 of her career-high 32 points in the second half at Wake Forest, leading Maryland to a 75-58 win. She was 9-for-17 from the field en route to tying the freshman class school record for points in a game.
Doron snagged Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season and shares the honor with Florida State's Shante Williams.
The Rookie of the Week honor, which Jones shares with Wake Forest's Chris Paul, is the first for Jones. He joins teammates John Gilchrist and D.J. Strawberry, who were named ACC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Dec. 15, as the Terrapin recipients of weekly conference honors this season.
