'Hunger Box' project gives shoppers a way to help

Through a Giant supermarket initiative, the "You Can Help Hunger Box" project, customers purchased boxes filled with dry grocery products, which Giant donated to area food banks. The campaign ran from Oct. 26 through Dec. 19, with 10,200 boxes sold.

As part of Giant's Good Neighbor Food and Funds Drive, customers also donated money to food banks by filling out donation forms for $1, $3 or $5 and giving it a store cashier. Nonperishable food were also donated.
